my personal story

I’ve spent most of my life learning how to start again.

At twenty, I was diagnosed with melanoma after removing a mole for cosmetic reasons.

At twenty-five, I learned I carried the BRCA1 genetic mutation — the same one that had silently threaded through generations of women in my family. Four days after my thirtieth birthday, I underwent a double mastectomy. By thirty-six, I’d had a complete hysterectomy to protect my life — and a rebirth to reclaim it.

But this isn’t a story about loss.

It’s a story about becoming.

Becoming the Driver of My Life

I once feared dying too young. What I realized was far greater — I was afraid of not fully living.

So I began running — literally and metaphorically.

What started as miles of grief became a movement of grace. Over the next decade, I completed all six Abbott World Marathon Majors, crossing the final finish line in London beside my sister — both of us previvors, both of us rewriting what endurance looks like.

Running became my meditation, my manifesto, and my proof that the body you once feared could become your freedom.

From Recovery to Resilience

Through every surgery, scar, and start line, I learned that the comeback isn’t just physical — it’s emotional, spiritual, and deeply human.

That truth became RISE.

RISE is the framework that emerged from lived experience– not as a method for fixing life, but as a way of inhabiting it fully as identity evolves.

RISE reflects what I learned firsthand: resilience isn't about bouncing back to who you were. It's about learning how to move forward as who you're becoming – with clarity, alignment, and self-trust.

Built around four interconnected pillars, RISE invites people to reclaim their story, inhabit their body and voice, speak with integrity and endure in ways that build meaningful legacy rather than self-betrayal.

The Message I Carry

I know what it feels like to lose yourself in survival and the power of finding yourself again. For years, I lived inside a cycle of fear. Diagnosis, loss, what ifs were running the show. I was surviving, but I wasn't living.
And then one day, I realized my greatest risk wasn't dying, it was not fully living.

That truth became my turning point. I run, speak and share my story not to prove how strong I am, but to show others that strength doesn't always roar- sometimes, it whispers through grace, endurance and self belief.

It’s about remembering who you are before the fear, before the expectations, before the world tells you to play small. I’m here to help you rebuild, not as you once were, but as who you are meant to become. Your hardest chapter can be your greatest catalyst because purpose isn't found in perfection. It’s found in rising with what tried to break you.

"You can’t control what you inherit, but you can choose the legacy you build."
